Filet di Bosa Research

In 2023, through my master's research, I was introduced to Filet di Bosa, a traditional lace-making technique from Sardinia. As part of this research, I sought to build a tactile relationship with the birthplace of my great-grandfather. This led me to La Foce, an organization dedicated to preserving and transmitting the knowledge of Filet di Bosa.

Through an apprenticeship with the master makers of La Foce in Bosa, I learned the foundations of the technique: knotting the net and embroidering the motifs that give Filet di Bosa its distinctive character, and the significance behind these motifs. Since then, I have continued to practice and deepen my understanding of this craft.

While there is still much to learn in mastering this traditional technique, my practice also focuses on researching a contemporary application. I experiment with alternative materials, such as wool, and explore applications beyond lace, including body-related and sculptural objects.

Filet di Bosa offers me a way to continue and deepen my connection to Sardinia, while participating in its continued transmission through practice and research
